Mongolia, Empire of the steppes, will certainly be one of the highlights of the trip (for Fabrice, in the top 3).Unfortunately, two disadvantages will limit our visit of the country:
1. Mongolia is huge, and stretches over 2,300 km in the east-west direction. We are going north-south.
2. The weather. Expected date of arrival in Ulan Bator is 19 November. It is not the winter yet, but we expect temperature far below 0 degree Celsius (Mongolia has this freezing continental climate, and an average height of 1,580 meters above sea level). In January 2000, the temperatures went down to -60 degrees!
Lodging in a ger (Mongol tent/hut) and make a ride on the world famous Mongolian horses is a must.
